5 on Friday

August 2, 2013 Baltimore, MD, USA

This summer has definitely gone in a very unexpected direction. I feel like I've been moving non-stop since my surgery. Things keep piling on, and I'm shocking myself by saying this, but, I'm ready for fall. I'm straight up tired and feel like I need an extra second to just  stop and reset.

That second isn't coming anytime soon, but I can at least take a micro-second and focus on some recent positives:

5. Cara Box! As I'm saying this I'm realizing I haven't done a 5 on Friday in a month since last time I also mentioned Cara Box. But, how could I not? Chelsee outdid herself and spoiled the crap out of me. I love it!

4. Writing!

I majored in Communications in college and I still am often sad about not using my degree (or at least not having a grown-up career. Being broke sucks!) Anyway, the editor from the local magazine where I interned in school reached out to me about a freelance piece some time ago and I gladly accepted. I'm so happy that I can finally share with you all! I picked up the August issue at my local Wegman's, and there was my name, back in print (you can read the article here)!

Yay for crappy quality scans...

3. Friend Time!

This is so pitiful as we live in the same county. We are finally hanging out with friends tonight that we haven't seen since I think last summer. Adulthood sucks sometimes. I'm realizing I don't even think they know I'v a vegetarian. Fail. But yay for finally getting together!

2. The Weather

No pics here....but it has been so darn hot and humid. The temps have been much friendlier the last few days, and I am loving it! I am a huge summer enthusiast...but the humidity in Maryland can be unbearable!

1. Late Night Silly Times With the Hubby

we're goofy. y'all know this.
I know we can't possibly be the only ones who get a little ridiculous (and easily entertained) when it's well past our bedtime. Earlier this week, Sean got to some coaching work and reminded me that I was mere weeks from becoming a sports widow. After proofreading his first team letter of the season, he clicked "send," and the e-mails started bouncing back. (If you didn't know, reading the chicken scratch of teenage boys can be a challenge). And while not really funny, it led to some late night laughs and silliness as we tried to decipher what these kids had submitted. It was a fun goofy bonding time, and some poor kid named Thomas will now forever be known as Rhomas.
